Itinerary
Day 1: Guided tour from Cusco to 5 Inca archaeological sites and return to Cusco
These sites are not just ruins but living testaments to the ingenuity and advanced knowledge of the Inca civilization.
We will begin our fascinating tour by picking you up between 12:45 PM and 1:00 PM directly from a central point in the Plaza de Armas (Main Square) of Cusco’s Historic Center. Our first stop will be the majestic Qoricancha Temple, known as the “Golden Temple” or “Temple of the Sun.” During a detailed guided tour, we will delve into this sacred place’s fantastic history and profound spiritual significance for the Inca civilization.
We will board our tourist transportation to head to the city’s outskirts, towards the majestic fortress of Sacsayhuaman. This incredible archaeological site will leave you breathless with its gigantic volcanic stones, meticulously carved and assembled by the Incas with astonishing precision.
We will continue our exploration by delving into the mysterious site of Qenqo. This unique place features an intricate labyrinth of underground passages, altars, and niches carved directly into the rock. Qenqo was considered a critical Inca ceremonial center, possibly used for rituals and astronomical observations.
Our next stop will be Puca Pucara, a “Red fortress” in Quechua. This archaeological site is considered an important Inca military and administrative complex, strategically located with panoramic views of the valley.
Finally, we will arrive at Tambomachay, a beautiful and tranquil site called the “Inca Baths.” This site, with its impressive crystal-clear water fountains, channels, and artificial waterfalls, was not just a place for the Incas to relax but a testament to their advanced hydraulic knowledge and respect for water as a life-giving element. After a day full of discoveries and learning, we will conclude our tour by returning to the starting point, the Plaza de Armas in Cusco’s Historic Center. Here, you can continue exploring the city on your own, enjoy the local cuisine, or relax.
