Itinerary
Day 1: From Urubamba or Ollantaytambo to the tourist sites of Ollantaytambo, Moray, Maras, and Chinchero
We begin this day of adventure in the Sacred Valley by picking you up from your accommodation in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba around 7:30 AM. The pickup time may vary depending on whether you are in Ollantaytambo or Urubamba (Yanahuara or Yucay; we will coordinate an exact time the day before your departure). In our private transportation, we head to the first archaeological site, Ollantaytambo, an impressive site that served military, religious, administrative, and agricultural functions in ancient times.
After visiting Ollantaytambo, we will head to Moray, an ingenious Inca agricultural laboratory with its unique system of circular terraces. Next, we head to the impressive natural Salt Mines, a unique landscape where thousands of salt pans create a stunning visual mosaic. We return to the traditional Andean town of Maras to enjoy our lunch.
Finally, we head to Chinchero, an Andean gem that will surprise you with its rich Inca history, important archaeological sites, and charming colonial architecture, before marveling at the weaving center, admiring the beauty of textiles made with ancestral Inca techniques. We finish our trip by returning you to your accommodation in the Sacred Valley, or if you prefer, we will take you to Cusco.
